Ferd Value for Society Award


Social entrepreneurship, social innovation, impact investments… these are all very hot topics at the moment. They are also concepts that are appealing to young people who like the idea of business applying its skills and ingenuity to solve social problems in sustainable ways.

The “Ferd Value for Society Award” aims to recognize young leaders and visionaries who are building responsible business models and are thriving to create a social change through innovation and transformation. They have a driving passion to make things better and they are focused on creating social value.

Awards are given to young entrepreneurs who have achieved a positive social impact through their activity and show a personal commitment towards facilitating social development.

Criteria for selection

  • Applicants must present an innovative and practical business model that aims to solve a known social problem
  • The business idea has the following characteristics: Innovative, sustainable, scalable, and replicable
  • Applicants must demonstrate that value is created and the business is – or has the potential to be – financially viable

Jury Members

Johan H. Andresen

Johan H. Andresen is the owner of Ferd, and became Chairman of its Board of Directors in October 2012 after 14 years as Chief Executive Officer. He is also the chairman of Ferd Social Entrepreneurs AS and a board member at Ferd’s portfolio company Brav. He is also a member of the boards of Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken (SEB), the Nordic Microfinance Initiative, and JA Europe. In 2015 he was appointed as the Chair of the Council of Ethics for the Norwegian Government Pension Fund Global (the oil fund).

Katharina G. Andresen

Katharina G. Andresen is marketing coordinator at Brav, Brav is a major player in the sport and outdoor industry, and manages some of the most influential brands in the marketplace.

Trym Andreas Nagelstad

Education from New York in business and administration, with specialization in Finance. Worked with financing and start-up of a charity organization against cancer. Been employed in Ferd Social Entrepreneurs the last 1.5 years. Works primarily with our portfolio companies as a business developer, as well as other exciting tasks within the field.

Øyvind Sandvold

Been working with Business Development for the last 20+ years in a variety of industries – both as a Management Consultant and an employee. Has been Portfolio Manager at Ferd Social Entrepreneurs for the last 8 years.
