Junior Achievement Norway welcomes you to the JA Europe Enterprise Challenge 2019.

We are excited and proud to be hosting you in Oslo this summer for JA’s 100th year anniversary.

2019 is a great year for Oslo. We are Europe’s Green Capital for 2019 and Oslo is also being called “Europe’s latest startup hotbed”. There is lots for you to look forward to.

JA Europe Enterprise Challenge is not only a way to celebrate what you have achieved so far, but it is also an excellent learning experience for all of you, that we hope you make the most of. Remember to use your time here to engage with others and to learn something new!

Competing is exciting and nerve wrecking, but we also want you to have fun, to enjoy the experience of being in Oslo and making new friends.

The official language of the Challenge is English. The number of participating teams is limited to one per country. The competing companies should consist of a minimum of 2 and maximum of 6 Members.
Each participant (achiever/adult) will receive a digital welcome pack which will contain the complete information about the challenge.

All participants will be accommodated at Thon Hotel Storo , address: Vitaminveien 23, 0485 Oslo, Norway This is close to public transport from the airport, a short walking distance from BI Norwegian Business School. The check-in time in the hotel is at 15.00 and checkout time at 12.00.

Students will be placed in double or triple rooms (same gender), adults in single rooms. The host country decides on the rooming list. We try to place students from the same country together in one room as far as possible, but this is subject to the number of students per country.

Any additional costs like phone calls, private drinks etc. will be at your own charge.

From the airport to the hotel
We will have an information desk at the airport with JA staff members waiting for you.

Bus: Take line FB3 from Oslo Airport to bus stop  “Storo”. the trip from Oslo Airport takes about 45 minutes. When you get off the bus at the stop “Storo” it is a 9 minute walk to the hotel.

The hotel have an agreement with the airport bus. View reservation confirmation from our hotel when you buy a ticket on board the bus, and the price will be NOK 140, – one way.

Flytoget Airport Express: Take the train from Oslo Airport to stop «Oslo S». The trip takes about 20 minutes. From “Oslo S” take the T-Bane (Oslo Metro)  line “Ringen”, you can take both west and east. The trip takes 10-15 minutes. Get off at “Storo” stop. From the metro, it is a 6 minute walk to the hotel. Flytoget costs NOK 196, – one way for the adult. With the T-Line it costs NOK 36, – for a single ticket.

Taxi: Taxis can be found right outside the terminal when you leave the airport. Ask for a fixed price to the hotel when you get into the car. Prices: NOK 789, – to NOK 989, –
NB Please note that there will be other / higher rates on weekends and holidays.

Event venues

All activities the first day will be at BI Norwegian Business School, a five minute’s walk from the hotel, please find the location here.

The award evening will start at Oslo City Hall before we go by private buses to the awards dinner at Villa Smedbraaten.

Pratical info

All meals from the lunch on Monday to the breakfast on Wednesday will be included in the package. Extra meals/drinks will be at your own charge.

Alcohol and drugs policy
Alcohol is permitted but abuse of alcohol won’t be tolerated inside the event. Using drugs is absolutely forbidden! In case of an offensive behavior, JA Norway and JA Europe reserve the right to send the participant back home at his or her own expense.

Norwegian kroner (NOK) is the official currency in Norway. Credit cards are accepted in almost every taxi, shop, restaurant and hotel.

Each participant should be insured by his/her JA organization (travel & medical insurance). If you bring valuable equipment (laptop, tablet, IPad etc.), be aware that you will be entirely responsible for its safety. These items are not covered by the insurance provided by JA.

Evening : Please note this will be an outdoor garden party and summer evenings in Norway can get a bit chilly. Make sure you bring an extra jacket/cardigan to keep you warm. The main event takes place on a grass lawn therefore stiletto heels are not recommended.

Stand exhibition

The exhibition is not a formal part of the competition. However, it is an opportunity for the main jury to interact informally with the companies, asking questions about their project. It is also the opportunity for the signature juries to have a dialogue with the teams, whose performance will be taken into consideration in the final evaluation.

At the exhibition area, we can already confirm that the teams will be provided with:

  • Desk: Table dimensions:

Diameter: 76cm          Height: 110 cm

The tables will be covered with a black stretch table cloth.

  • TV Screens: 42” screens
  • Each TV screen will have its own stand. Participants must bring their own HDMI cable to connect the TV with their laptop. Ensure that the cable is compatible with your laptop (i.e. PC or Mac). Cables will NOT be provided. Desk (size to be confirmed)

Each team is responsible for their own adapters, extension cables etc. There won’t be any chairs.

As part of setting up the stands, the teams are only permitted to use materials that can be placed on the desk, not around it or stuck on it (EXCEPTION: standing roll-up, that the team can put next to the desk).
